Who says you need dairy to make a great pizza? This Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower Pizza strikes the perfect balance of spicy, creamy, and rich, and it's covered in the most irresistible homemade vegan cheese!
Hi friends and happy Wednesday! I am so excited to be back today with another delicious savory recipe for you... and it's vegan, too! Did you know October is National Pizza Month? To celebrate the occasion, I have gotten together with a few fellow bloggers {of course} to share some yummy recipes. I am absolutely obsessed with this Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower Pizza! Spicy, savory, creamy, cheesy... it really is the best of ALL worlds. Let's go make it!
So, what was I thinking when I decided to make a vegan BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER PIZZA?! I have to confess this is actually a copycat version of an amazing pizza I had in NYC a few weeks ago! We went to visit Screamer's Pizzeria, which is a legendary all-vegan pizza place that whips up the most epic and unique combinations. We tried a few different slices, and while they were all good, I absolutely fell in love with their buffalo cauliflower pizza. It hit just the right balance of spicy and flavorful without being too hot. I KNEW I had to recreate it at home!
If you know me in real life, then you know I am just a little wimpy when it comes to spicy food. That's also why I don't really have any spicy recipes on the blog ? I really wanted this buffalo cauliflower pizza to taste hot without being, well... too hot. Is that making any sense?! Probably not. BUT I am happy to say that my idea worked! You have the peppery bite of hot sauce but it's mellowed out by a bit of tomato sauce and vegan cheese and RANCH. Yes I put ranch on pizza. And I am not sorry.
Since we are celebrating #NationalPizzaMonth here today, be sure to check out all of my blogger buddies' pizza recipes, too!

vegan buffalo cauliflower pizza #NationalPizzaMonth
Ingredients
- *for the pizza*
- 1 lb pizza dough {my recipe is above if you want to make it from scratch}
- ½ cup cauliflower florets {fresh or frozen and thawed}
- ¼ cup tomato sauce
- 1-2 tablespoon hot sauce to taste
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- drizzle of olive oil
- *vegan cheese recipe*
- ½ cup unsweetened almond or cashew milk
- ¼ cup raw unsalted cashews
- 1 ½ tablespoon tapioca starch
- 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- *to serve*
- vegan ranch
- fresh cilantro
Instructions
- First, make the vegan cheese. Let your cashews soak overnight to soften, or boil for 20-30 minutes on the stove. I have found that the easiest way is cover them with water and microwave for 4-6 minutes until easily pierced with a fork.
- Place the drained cashews in a blender, and add in the cashew milk, tapioca starch, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, garlic powder, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Transfer mixture to a small pot set on medium-high heat. Cook, stirring often, until mixture becomes thick, gooey, and cheesy. This will take about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool as you prepare the rest.
- Preheat oven to 550F. If you have a pizza stone, preheat with the stone in the oven. Otherwise, prepare a cookie sheet by lightly greasing with olive oil. In a small bowl, toss the cauliflower pieces with some hot sauce until evenly coated.
- Gently spread your pizza dough on your cookie sheet or on your pizza peel into a rounded shape.
- Spread the tomato sauce all over, drizzle on the hot sauce, and arrange the cauliflower florets on top. Spoon on a generous amount of your prepared vegan cheese, and finish everything off with the drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle of garlic salt.
- Cook at 550F for about 10-12 minutes, until crust is golden brown and crisp, and cheese is bubbling.
- To serve, drizzle with vegan ranch and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. Enjoy!
