Thanksgiving is almost here! Gah! Today, I am sharing a super simple recipe that would be perfect as part of your Thanksgiving feast... but also like, anytime. Let's be real, when is bread not a good idea? This recipe for garlic knots is so easy that it almost can't be called a recipe, honestly. You just need some pizza dough {storebought if you wanna be extra lazy... no judgement}, butter, garlic, and a pinch of parsley. And if you want, some marinara sauce for dipping if your heart desires. But that's it!
I've been meaning to share my mom's homemade pizza dough recipe for forever, but since one of our favorite grocery stores started carrying fresh pizza dough, she really hasn't made it. So, someday but not today! For this recipe, you can use your favorite storebought pizza dough or your favorite homemade version! All I gotta say is, please use real pizza dough. I have no problem with the stuff in the refrigerated cans, and sometimes it's actually pretty great, but it just won't work here!
I knew my family would probably love this recipe... it's bread and butter and garlic, what's there to not love?! But y'all... they would just not stop eating them. I made these garlic knots in the afternoon with the intent of eating them with our pasta at dinner and they almost didn't make it. I literally had to hide them so they wouldn't devour the whole plate. Hey, nobody ever said living with boys was easy... especially when they consider bread their main food group. All joking aside, these are pretty phenomenal and so ridiculously easy! Make them for Thanksgiving... or just because. I promise you will love them!
Wanting to make them from scratch? Here is my homemade pizza dough recipe!
simple garlic knots
Ingredients
- 1 ball storebought pizza dough
- 4 tablespoon salted butter melted
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- salt as needed
- marinara sauce to serve
Instructions
- First, line two baking sheets with parchment.
- Roll out your dough on a well-floured surface into a large rectangle, and cut it into 3 parts short-ways {so that you get 3 short and wide pieces}. Cut each section into strips, and gently "tie" into knots.
- Place knots on your prepared baking sheets, and put in a warm place for at least 30 minutes so the rolls can rise.
- When ready to bake, heat the oven to 350F.
- Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and turn the broiler on.
- In a small bowl, grate the garlic using a microplane and combine it with the melted butter and parsley.
- Brush the mixture over all the rolls, and sprinkle with a little bit of additional salt.
- Place the knots under the broiler for 3-4 minutes, until golden brown and delicious.
- Serve immediately with marinara sauce.
