I have a fun new treat for y'all today! Toasted angel food cake! Because, well, why not? I personally love angel food cake, just not... plain. Don't get me wrong, it tastes fine, but I always feel like something should be added. Berries? Chocolate? Whipped cream? The possibilities are endless. So why not give this fluffy angel food cake a texture makeover? I slathered it with MELT butter replacement, toasted it, and... it was the best thing ever! I feel like this dessert is perfect for both a casual setting and for more of a formal occasion. It looks gorgeous {especially with a side of mixed berries}, but it's also super easy and fast!
Nobody needs to know how easy this was! I initially came up with this recipe as a way to use MELT's Honey variety of buttery spread... however, when I was unable to find any at my local grocery store, rather than scrap the recipe altogether, I decided to just try it with the regular butter flavor. I'm so glad I did! These toasted angel food cake slices turned out exactly how I wanted them! Sad to admit, but I have a feeling the Honey flavor would have made the whole dessert way too sweet. Needless to say, I'm pretty glad I make this recipe anyway! This is a two ingredient, 5 minute dessert that everyone will love. Who's hungry? 🙂

Toasted Angel Food Cake
Ingredients
- 4 thick slices of angel food cake {I used store-bought}
- 4 tablespoon MELT original buttery spread
- Mixed fresh berries for serving {optional}
Instructions
- Preheat a medium nonstick pan over medium heat.
- Divide the MELT spread evenly, and slather on both sides of your angel food cake slices.
- Place them, buttered side down, in your warmed pan. Let the slices cook for a couple of minutes, until golden brown and crunchy, then flip and repeat the process.
- Serve immediately with mixed berries and enjoy! 🙂
