Celebrate summer with a gorgeous, sweet and salty Cherry Goat Cheese Focaccia! This soft bread works as an appetizer or a dessert, and pairs perfectly with Cavit Moscato wine.
Happy Monday, lovely readers! We are starting a brand new week today with bread and wine. Oh heck yes. That means this week has to be fabulous with a start like this! I have paired up with Cavit Wines to bring you this gorgeous Cherry Honey Goat Cheese Focaccia which is perfect for all your summer get-togethers. Let me show you how easy it is to make!
When Cavit wines asked me to make a summer barbecue-approved recipe to pair with their delicious Moscato, of course I said yes! I decided to challenge myself and think out of the BBQ-slathered box, and I like to think I succeeded. There's nothing wrong with the traditional ribs and steak and potato salad of course, but show up with a pan of sweet and salty focaccia and you will be everyone's new favorite person. This soft, irresistible bread is studded with fresh cherries, crumbles of honey goat cheese, and of course a drizzle of sweet wildflower honey for good measure. It's equally perfect as an appetizer as it is a dessert!
Cavit Moscato wine is made from Moscato grapes grown in Pavia, Italy, in the region of Lombardy. It's a sweet, light, refreshing wine that pairs perfectly with berries, mint, and creamy cheeses like mascarpone and goat cheese. It pairs wonderfully with this cherry goat cheese focaccia, but I have to confess moscato is my go-to wine for everything! Some people say it's just a dessert wine, but it goes with many more foods than one might think. Check out Cavit's pairing recommendations here!
I hope you'll try out this cherry goat cheese focaccia at your friend and family gatherings this summer! It is so simple to make, beautiful, and of course delicious. I just use store-bought pizza dough from my favorite grocery store, but in a pinch you can make the dough from scratch, too! You can find my homemade recipe HERE. Happy baking and happy drinking! 🙂

cherry honey goat cheese focaccia
Ingredients
- 1 lb store-bought pizza dough {find my homemade recipe link above}
- 1 cup fresh cherries pitted and halved
- ¼ cup honey goat cheese crumbles
- 2-3 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1-2 teaspoon salt
- 1-2 teaspoon sugar
Instructions
- To start, grab your pizza dough, place it in a lightly oiled bowl, cover tightly with plastic wrap or a towel, and let rise for about 1 hr.
- After the rise, grab a baking sheet, line with parchment paper, and grease the surface using 1 tablespoon of oil. Gently stretch the dough on the prepared sheet, arranging it in a roughly oval shape. Spray lightly with water, cover with more plastic wrap, and allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
- After this, preheat convection oven to 400F (conventional 425F).
- Arrange your cherry halves on the focaccia. In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil with 2 tablespoon of water, and spoon this all over the surface.
- Sprinkle on the salt and sugar, and bake focaccia for 18-22 minutes, until golden brown and puffy.
- As soon as the focaccia is out, sprinkle the surface with the goat cheese, and drizzle on the honey. Garnish with mint if desired, and enjoy with Cavit Moscato wine.

Wow! This looks really good. I am not really a fan of focaccia but with this has a very unique and interesting twist. I am excited to try this appetizer cum dessert.
