This Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate tastes like a cup of pumpkin pie! Sweet, rich, and absolutely delicious.
I LOVE fall. I love it I love it I love it. I don't know if it's because of the cooler weather {thank goodness}, or the football games, or the pumpkin in all-of-the-things, but it's basically my favorite time of the year. My first semester of college, once the weather finally cooled off, I loved to go to the Starbucks on campus, grab a white hot chocolate, and study. I stopped doing that after that first semester because, ahem, $4 drinks once or twice a week seriously add up, but I still dream about that white hot chocolate! Inexplicably, I haven't really been able to find it at any regular Starbucks, which is totally disappointing. This weekend has been pretty chilly, which reminded me of my beloved sugary drink. But, as I said, pumpkin reigns supreme in fall... so I made some white hot chocolate, added pumpkin spice, actual pumpkin puree, and topped the whole thing with a ton of whipped cream. This seriously tastes like liquid pumpkin pie! Best. Drink. Ever.
I honestly wasn't sure if pumpkin puree was going to actually work in a drink, as I was afraid it was just going to form a gross clump at the bottom. To my happy surprise, it mixed in with no problem! I think this is thanks to the melted white chocolate, but who knows. As long as it works, I don't care what made it happen! This drinks takes maybe 10 minutes to make it and basically zero attention span... I made it while I was talking to my mom on the phone, so if I can do it, so can you! You just mix everything together in a pot and whisk until it's all melted together, then you pour into mugs, top with whipped cream, and drink away! I like to think that this is a white girl's dream come true.
pumpkin white hot chocolate
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk {dairy or nondairy just make sure it's unsweetened!}
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- ½ cup pumpkin puree
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice mix
- whipped cream to serve
Instructions
- In a medium nonstick pot, combine the milk and white chocolate chips, and turn burner on medium-low.
- Whisk continuously until the white chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Add in the vanilla, pumpkin spice and pumpkin puree, and whisk until everything is lump-free and silky.
- Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream and extra pumpkin spice, and serve immediately!
- Pro tip: don't let these sit around for too long, or the spice in the hot chocolate will start to settle in the bottom! So don't do that. Ew.
